Presentazione/Forewords
L’associazione culturale Arte Contemporanea, fondata nel 1996 da Rosa Anna Musumeci, ha realizzato nel corso della lunga attività un centinaio di progetti ed esposizioni, con la partecipazione di altrettanti artisti italiani e stranieri, e la collaborazione di giovani critici e curatori indipendenti.
Dopo dieci anni di intensa attività a Catania e varie iniziative a New York e Parigi, dal 2010 al 2020 l’associazione ha operato a Bruxelles, sia privatamente, sia con il sostegno e presso le sedi di associazioni (MAAC, Thalie Foundation) e istituzioni (IIC Bruxelles, Ufficio di collegamento della Regione Sicilia presso la UE), in sintonia con le sue missioni statutarie.
In sintesi. Scoprire e promuovere giovani talenti. Esporre artisti affermati o emergenti, a cura di critici indipendenti e di ricerca. Sviluppare lo scambio internazionale di iniziative culturali e la sinergia di idee creative. Intensificare la collaborazione e il mutuo sostegno di enti ed attività pubbliche e private. Assicurare una continua offerta di informazioni e comunicazione rivolte ad ampliare l’udienza della ricerca visiva. Fornire consulenza e formazione ad artisti e curatori nel corso di residenze presso la sua sede.
Con lo stesso programma, l’associazione si è infine insediata nel Val di Noto, partecipando nel 2021 a un’iniziativa di Philippe Terrier-Hermann e Yann Valladon (All’Ombra del Gelso in Fiore prima che i Frutti macchino - Villa Iblea - Frigintini) e lanciando nel 2022 EXPERIMENTUM CRUCIS, prima di una serie di manifestazioni multimediali internazionali di arte visiva, previste a cadenza annuale presso l’Ex-Caserma Cassonello, con il patrocinio della Città di Noto.

The cultural association Arte Contemporanea was established in 1996 by Rosa Anna Musumeci, and has since then launched some hundred projects and exhibitions, with the participation of as may international and Italian artists, and the involvement of a host of young critics and independent curators.
After ten years of intense activity in Catania and several projects in NYC and Paris, in 2010-2020 the association established itself in Brussels, working on its own as well as with the support and at the quarters of sister associations (MAAC, Thalie Foundation) and public institutions (IIC Bruxelles, Sicilian Contact Team at the EU), in order to promote its statutory mission.
In short. To uncover and sponsor young talents. To exhibit emerging and established artists, introduced by independent research curators. To prompt the international exchange of cultural initiatives, and the synergy of creative ideas. To intensify the cooperation and mutual support of private and public entities and activities. To provide a continuous flow of communication and information aiming at widening the audience of visual research. To deliver professional consulting and formation to artists and curators by residential stages at the association venues.
By the same endeavors, the association has finally settled in the Val di Noto, by joining in 2021 an event by Philippe Terrier-Hermann and Yann Valladon (All’ombra del gelso in fiore prima che i frutti macchino - Villa Iblea - Frigintini), and launching in 2022 EXPERIMENTUM CRUCIS, the first of a yearly show of international multimedia visual art patronized by the City of Noto at the Ex-Caserma Cassonello.
