Michel Couturier adopera fotografia, video e disegno in relazione alla scultura. all’architettura e allo spazio pubblico. Dal 2001, il suo lavoro si interroga sulla città e le sue periferie, traendo spesso ispirazione dalla mitologia dei luoghi e dalle sue tracce nel paesaggio contemporaneo. Ma nell’opera esposta vediamo un altro registro, un’attenzione diretta ed esclusiva alla forma naturale. Una variazione di soggetto solo apparente, perché la natura, o meglio la sua umiliazione, il suo sfruttamento, sono presenze permanenti dello sguardo dell’artista. E in ogni caso sempre la stessa accuratezza, che permette a Couturier di di accedere al mistero, al bello, alla poesia, con quasi niente, un semplice festone vegetale avvolto da un’inopinata aura di sanguigna inquietudine.

Michel Couturier uses photography, video and drawing in relation to sculpture, architecture, and the public space. Since 2001, his work questions the city and its surroundings, often in connection with mythology and its traces in a contemporary landscape. Here, however, we are confronted with another focus, a straight and exclusive attention to natural forms. But the variation is not really at odds with Couturier permanent interest for the humiliated, exploited nature of previous works. And be that as it may, the usual artist’s accuracy allows once again to enter mystery, the beautiful , and poetry, with almost nothing, a mere vegetal garland wrapped in an unexpected aura of uneasiness.
