Michel Couturier adopera fotografia, video e disegno in relazione alla scultura. all’architettura e allo spazio pubblico. Dal 2001, il suo lavoro si interroga sulla città e le sue periferie, traendo spesso ispirazione dalla mitologia dei luoghi e dalle sue tracce nel paesaggio contemporaneo. Fra i contesti più utilizzati, frontiere marittime, porti e le loro apparecchiature di sorveglianza, nonché i dispositivi che regolano i flussi di persone e merci. Al momento, la riflessione dell’artista si concentra sullo spazio urbano e la profondità della sua latitudine nella storia e nell’immaginario collettivo.

Michel Couturier uses photography, video and drawing in relation to sculpture, architecture, and the public space. Since 2001, his work questions the city and its surroundings, often in connection with mythology and its traces within the contemporary landscape. His work has focused among others on maritime borders, port areas and their control structures, as well as the devices supervising the flows of persons and goods. Today, Couturier is most concerned with the urban space and its significance both historically and for the collective imagery.
