L’artista si concentra sulle fasi iniziale e terminale della vita, infanzia e vecc hiaia, nell’intento di identificare un particolare tipo umano. Un anziano pianista simboleggia la resistenza del corpo all’usura del tempo, e la custodia di una volontà che può sopravvivere alla morte attraverso la trasmissione al giovanissimo apprendist. Evocano questa trasmissione le mani infantili, piccole e leggere, che inseguono le dita pesanti e rugose del maestro, componendo una melodia visiva che leggiamo con trepidazione chiromantiica, alla ricerca di verità profonde, se non insondabili. Ma su tutto regna la musica, che amalgama in una dimensione fuori dal tempo la pur evidente temporalità di ciò che vediamo. Passato e futuro si specchiano così nel presente, in un contemporaneo non effimero, immaginario eppure indiscutibilmente convincente.

The artist focuses on the initial and terminal lifecycle, infancy and ageing, aiming at identifying a peculiar human type. An elderly pianist symbolizes the body’s resistance to the ravages of time, and the custody of a will that can survive death by the transfer to an infant apprentice. The transfer is evoked by the child’s small and light hands going after the heavy and wrinkled fingers of the old master, thereby composing a visual melody that we read with chiromantic excitement. But the key is music, which combines in an out of time dimension the however manifest temporality we are looking for. Thus, past and future reflect in the present, in an enduring fictional, though indisputably convincing, contemporary.
