I lavori più recenti dell’artista sono il frutto evidente di una scelta di vita, il trasferimento dalla città a un piccolo comune di montagna, in mezzo ai boschi. Il contatto diretto con la natura ha innescato un meccanismo, forse difensivo, che ha messo in discussione le certezze di un tempo. Natura, alberi, frutti dell’orto, animali, hanno acuito la sensazione di urgenza della comprensione, elementare quanto trascurata, che uomo e natura sono parte di un tutto, mentre noi portiamo la responsabilità dei cambiamenti che stanno deturpando il pianeta. Con questa consapevolezza, l’opera diventa testimonianza, simulacro, per riflettere sulle scelte necessarie, anzi vitali, future. Il piccolo monocromo di foglie di castagno (dalla serie <Our skin>), cucite, imprigionate, da un filo di cotone, invoca la liberazione. E  in <For the next war>, le tre lance di legno combusto, tenute assieme da un legaccio e disposte a cono, suonano minacciose, come pronte all’uso nefasto che l’uomo potrebbe farne.

Maccari’s most recent work is the evident outcome of a life choice, the aftermath of the relocation from the urban environment to a small mountain village, through the woods. The direct contact with nature has triggered a (perhaps defensive) reaction, that has undermined all previous certainties. Nature, the trees, the fruit orchards, the animals, have sharpened the feeling of urgency of the obvious as well as overlooked persuasion that both man and nature  are parts of the same whole, whereas humans bear the responsibility of the changes that are ravaging the planet. Through such an awareness, the works turn into a witness, a simulacrum, fostering the reflection on future, necessary, indeed vital, choices.The small monochrome of sewn chestnut leaves (out of the <Our skin> series) calls for liberation. And in <For the next war>, three lances of burnt wood, held together by a tie and  arranged in a conic shape, look threatening, as if they were ready for the harm humans might do.
