“Displacement” is about the individual/place relationship, and brings reflection towards an impersonal autobiography of sorts. Arising out of an estrangement feeling due to passages and stays in the private spaces of my lived and fantasized experience, the narrative impersonality of the text, and the personal-impersonal content carried by the photographic images, give back whatever determined them, much like a mise en abîme. Both pics and the documents from the private archive, as well as a few ‘objects dear’, allow for the gradual and integrated expansion of a personal, real and specious, genealogy. In view of a metaphoric biography - a tale of many, of displacement and diaspora - aiming at changing the perspective from the individual to the collective, from the local to the universal, in order to prompt a renewed logic of looking and thinking. AG “[…]. A work in progress to be exhibited each time according to the accidents of the environment, Guillot’s genealogical tree (karstic and conceptual) therefore expresses itself, in its aesthetic intent, as an impersonal abstract didactics of Disenchantment: the historical I, it tells us, exists today only if spatialized (and then neutralized as a heroic actor), nowhere on the shore does the sea begin, never does the same wave return.”
